Every bite of food was amazing! The line moved so fast & food was promptly delivered. I picked up shirts for gifts and everyone was so nice helping me out. Do not skip dessert! Or the kompot!
This place has the best borscht! I also love to get a variety of pierogies. Very delicious! Service is fast because the tables fill up.
I have been coming to Vaselka since I was a child and I am just as in love with it as the first day I came in. It is a staple of the local community with delicious food, amazing staff and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Eating here feels like eating at your grandma’s house, in the best way possible. I could not recommend Vaselka enough. I will always keep coming back for more!
Veselka is absolutely one of my favorite spots in the city. They don't take reservations, so come a little early if you can (the wait isn't so bad most weeknights). It's worth it. Everything is good, but I come for the pierogis. The traditional were great, of course (we usually go for boiled), but goat cheese and arugula was an interesting highlight, and the fried short rib (wine braised, I believe) were divine. I strongly recommend ordering extra! For dessert, we ordered the new fried chocolate filled pierogis with a side of vanilla ice cream, and it was straight up heaven. Similar in a way to the chocolate dumplings at Din Tai Fun, if you're familiar, but special in their own way. While it was busy, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was fun both inside and out. This will continue to be one of my favorite places to take friends and family in the city! PS - Sorry for the bad pics—was way too hungry to remember to take them immediately while the plates were full!
I really enjoyed the food. I got 4 pierogis, borscht, and coffee. The flavors were really authentic and reminded me of my time living in Russia (it’s Ukrainian cuisine ). But yeah the nostalgia made me emotional while eating and I felt compelled to write a review encouraging people to try these simple & comforting flavors
A place that was definitely worth the wait if you have to wait in line for it. All of the food items were delicious and the staff were as friendly and attentive as a busy restaurant could have been. Overall satisfied with the experience
Our second time here, and this time was for dinner. A short line but wait was not bad. Menu has gf and v labels, so that was helpful. Food seems to be simply prepared and arrives very quickly. One gf dessert, which was a cherry and chocolate flourless cake. Friendly staff.
Food is always amazing! I recommend this restaurant to so many people because there really is something for everyone—from traditional Eastern European dishes to breakfast foods—I have never had a bad meal. The pierogis are a must have and the latkes are some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The photos are from various times I’ve gone there.
